Anyone can cook!-Gusteau
Here are some of my suggestions:
Characters
Edgar Cura-college scholar, has Superman and Batman's sense of ethics but occasionally, with the Joker's sense of fun, has the right combination of innocence and wordly wisdom, youthful levity and manly gravitas, spiritual strength and emotional vulnerability that would sweep any kolehiyala off her panties (specially if she digs Pin Medina), it's just that he rarely cares to reveal it because he hasn't found that someone who could match up to her childhood sweetheart and long-time muse
Kim Chua-Edgar's blockmate and best friend, a tomboyish wraith(read: supermodel under construction) who dresses up like she's in a Cyndi Lauper music video, a rebel against the Chinay sterotype (or whatever that is they perpetuate in the Mano Po cinemacopia), has secret unrequitted affection for Edgar (to the tune of Kailan)
Rico Rivero-Edgar's bunkmate/buddy,supersenior, middle class, life of the party, lover of beauty, owns mint condition Ford Mustang named ?
Jay Pascual-roommate ni Edgar, freshman, undergoing sexual identity crisis, with the mestizo good looks of a potential matinee idol
The Roommate-the fourth initially faceless roommate, seldom seen, course/age unknown, always seen going, never seen coming, his roommates agree, on rare, departing glimpses of him is that he exudes the combined aura of Teddy Diaz, Robert Smith and Edward Scissorhands
Shirley-Rico's most steady girl
El(eonor) Bimbo-Edgar's long-time long-lost muse
Bhoy Fabuloso-mischievous and lecherous middle aged poet/bard/mad genious, hash brownies and magic mushroom burger chef, a McGyver of automobiles who looks and talks a lot like Pepe Smith, his lifelong obsession is to develop/genetically engineer the ultimate ingredient for his Hash Brownies: cannabis sativa submarinus
Acts/Story (Song) arcs
Act I Edgar's pre-graduation sem-break roadtrip with Kim and roommates(sans the mystrious one) where they will encounter Fabuloso, learn and discover more about life in days than what they have learned in the past 7 (or more, in Rico's case) semesters (Sembreyk, Overdrive, Wishing Wells, Tikman, Policewoman, Alapaap, Fine Time, Tollgate)
Act II Parallel story arcs of the friends after the roadtrip:
Edgar didn't graduate after a family tragedy forces him to stop schooling and stay at home for a while; winds up into supporting roles in the affairs of his roommates(Slow) ; looses track of Kim; looses his spiritual compass (Bogchi Hokbu, Waiting For the Bus); regains it after occasional lessons/apprenticeship from Fabuloso, gets his gestalt after finding El Bimbo, now a world-weary but wise and overweight single mother of two tots, who winds up into Edgar's care after El Bimbo dies in a hit and run incident; realizes that the remaining gap in his life is his best friend Kim (Minsan, Lightyears)
Kim graduates and goes on to work for a fasion/women's magazine, gets discovered (Magasin), falls from grace after an internet scandal (Paro-parong Ningning) following episodes of alcoholic excesses(Alkohol, Magasin); is helped by Edgar in getting back to her feet (With a Smile, Huwag Kang Matakot)
Rico gets Shirley pregnant, learns harsh lessons of husbandhood and fatherhood(Maling Akala, Superproxy); triumphs with a little help from his friends (With a Smile)
Jay joins and wins reality star search and wins while keeping his sexual orientation secret; falls from grace after making it public (in another reality show) (Maskara, Hey Jay)
The Roommate figures out in pivotal moments of the friends' lives
Act III Reunion/resolution-Edgar woos (Torpedo) and reunites with Kim (Fine Time, Harana); starts a legit business with Fabuloso...a bakery(Para sa Masa! hehehehehe)....and they lived happily ever after an ensemble rendition of Fuitcake!
