This is a test post, and a sign of things to come I guess because you're going to see me more often in this forum.
Anyway I posted this earlier at HooPh (http://hoops.blink.ph/2008/06/18/chris-speaks-addressing-the-nba-finals/)
------------------------------------------
First up, congratulations to the Boston Celtics for putting up one of the most dominating performance in an NBA Finals Series. With the way the played tonight, to say they deserve it is an understatement. KG was all over the court, Allen scored on all corners, Pierce was still a douchebag to me but he was legendary in this series and the support they had from the other guys was superb.
The big things shifted the momentum, but the little things won the whole series for them.
Prior to this series, never in my life have I imagined that the next few words will come out of my mouth..
Doc Rivers outcoached the Zen Master this series.
Yes I said it, he outcoached him. For every adjustment Phil threw at him, Rivers had an answer. Rivers had his players motivated while Phil’s team looked relaxed all series long.
But that’s not the only problem..
… the main problem was with the whole LA Laker team.
From the get go, they seem contented only to play in the Finals. And as much as this might hurt to all Laker fans out there (Including me) the Lakers didn’t deserve one bit of the NBA finals this year. They just weren’t there. No energy, no defense, no hustle. While the Celtics were diving for every looseball, getting in front of a charging player to get a charge and contesting every jumpshot. The Lakers were just contented at giving the ball to Kobe and letting things be and Kobe, as great as he is, was expecting help from his teammates this series… and did he get it? No.
And given that they didn’t give as much support in the offensive end to Kobe, they did worse on the defensive end. The Celtics were just quicker, 5 steps ahead in the looseballs and just beating the Gold and Blue on every aspect of the game. The Lakers went away from everything that brought them to the finals. Defense, Hustle, Fastbreak Plays. Everything was forgotten.
But don’t get me wrong. I was, am and will always be a Laker fan regardless of the result of this series. And I’m disgusted by all these “experts” who thinks the Lakers was just a team that got lucky. Prior to the NBA finals, they were the best team in the NBA. They were just blowing past every single team that was thrown at them. It was only a different story come the finals. Because they faced a focus and hungry team which threw their rhythm off by jumping right at them in the first two games. The Lakers were discombobulated, the Lakers were confused, the Lakers were intimidated and scared. In the first three series’s of the Playoffs, they led every single time by 2 games. And when the Celtics jumped at a 2 - 0 lead, they didn’t look as sharp as they’ve looked in the first 15 games of the Playoffs. They just didn’t have that swagger and confidence anymore. And that cost them the whole NBA Finals.
But what the heck, next year would be interesting. Bynum will be back and Gasol and Ariza would have more time to jive in the system during the summer camp. This was the Celtics’ year, they deserved every single award that they’ll get. They worked their assess off all year, they set aside their personal statistics and they won it all. Congratulations to the Boston Celtics, and I’m looking forward for a championship to Los Angeles next year.

Darth: They sucked harder than Jenna Jameson in Game 6, but not really in the entire series. The Celtics were on supernova mode all from the get go. Which really made the Lakers look mediocre.
Game 1: The Lakers lost by 8, but they were hanging in there until the last 2 minutes of the game.
Game 2: The Lakers lost by 4, but they almost pulled a comeback from a 24 point lead with 7 minutes to go in the Fourth Quarter. Could've had a chance to tie it but Vujacic got too excited and threw an ill advised three pointer in front of Pierce's face which got blocked.
Game 3: Lakers dominated the game from the get go. Won by 6
Game 4: Lakers lost a 24 point lead and lost.
Game 5: Lakers held off a Celtics rally and won.
Game 6: Desire overpowered the Lakers. Lakers got dominated.
So far, the only sucking game for the Lakers is Game 6. Although no doubt, they've played bad, but credit the Celtics for playing thrice as better than what they've shown in the first three series'. So far, their inexperience and lack of "killer instinct" caused them to lose two games that they should've won (Game 2 and 4) Just so you know, the should they didn't lose those two cliffhangers, they would've been the NBA Champions two days ago.
But bottomline is, they lost. But they didn't suck as some people are projecting.

I was getting ready for an exciting game 6 but lo and behold, it was not even close even before halftime. BORING, anti-climactic win for the Celtics though well-deserved.

Next year will be much more interesting. Bynum's back in, maybe they get rid of odom for a vet that's been there before ala James Posey. Boston will be looking for a two-peat but count on them being much less hungry this time around. New York's got D'antoni and the number 3(?) pick, just so many stories to dig into!

How about Ron Artest to LA? I know he can be an ass sometimes, but remember Phil Jackson managed to contain Rodman. So they get rid of Gasol+Odom = Artest (Kobe+Bynum)
= Dynasty.

Arjay: Ron Artest is something that I have been craving for as a Laker fan for years now. He should bring the much needed toughness that the Los Angeles Lakers lacked in the Finals.
Mr.Clean: New York actually slid down to Number 6. My Bulls screwed the Knicks again baby! And oh yeah, Odom for Artest any given they.

I was rooting for the Lakers since game 1 as well, since western conference finals even, but after game 2 against Celtics where they had their 2nd consecutive loss, I decided, fuck it, it's not the time. Celtics starting five kicks Lakers starting five, Gasol didn't deliver on so many instances, Kobe easily got double or triple-teamed at times, and yeah, Lakers as a team is not all that. I can point some names of players who aren't really consistent with scoring and efficiency, especially as compared to Celtics big three with a Ray Allen who completely turned around his playoff performance just in time to rape Lakers' asses this finals series. Add to that a Rondo who can Rondo anybody on court, including you. It also doesn't help that Lakers bench is too amateurish compared to the OLD, really OLD Celtics bench with the testosterone dances (lolz at Admiral Aackbar to what team do you dump him now) and the mighty incredible big jumpers (I'm looking at Posey and House) and inside plays (I'd normally hate him for the fez, but no MEH and all LOVE for PJ Brown). And Leon Powe, don't forget Leon Powe. He's someone we'll have to watch out for next year.
Still, Lakers is a team that went on as #1 seed and kicked Spurs asses to get to the finals without getting a total team facelift like Celtics. Also, on your outcoaching comment on Doc vs Phil, let me just say that overcoaching is not really in Phil Jackson's books, so you could expect him to sit down on crucial times at games, finals or playoffs or regular season, because he leaves his players to make the decisions at times. He just rolls that way.
Thus I'll leave you Celtic-gasming fans with a KG comment from some lonely man's blog that made me LOL so hard because I think part of it is true:
"... if I were to rate how I smell on a scale of NBA power forwards, I would say my smell is the Kevin Garnett of smells: Most of the time really good, but any time there’s pressure, it gets bad and I have to hope someone who smells really good is near me to drown out my stink."

Rodman was contained by MJ. Kobe doesn't inspire that kind of confidence/awe in his temmates yet. but who knows? Artest for Odom sounds like a good deal to me. At least you know he'll play with a bit more intensity.
@crazymerrick on undercoaching: Do you REALLY think Doc Rivers coachs the celtics? I dont think anyone got outcoached, I just think it came down tot he fact that the celtics wanted it more, and Kobe had one of the worst games of his life on the night that mattered the most.
And come one, Bynum's sudden upsurge in the early part of the season and the wtf trade for Pau Gasol has to count as a facelift. Bynum got them in a position to get to the playoffs, Gasol helped rejuvenate them and bring them to the finals.
Personally I was rooting for the celtics because those dudes are older and don't have as many years on them as the Lakeshow does. With Kobe maturing and a better supporting cast around him, they're definitely gonna win a nother ring before the decade's over, and he knows it.

I'm not at all too crazy about Odom, but whenever he or Gasol has to be replaced by that sorry excuse for a player called Luke Walton, I at least want to see Odom back on court. Still, yay if Artest makes it to LA; screw Odom, literally. What?
Kobe also had a couple more bad games apart from his final day of blunder, but the problem is that in his team, only a few others step up to contribute whenever he's down and unproductive.
I may agree that Bynum and Gasol were two forces that influenced Lakers' rise to the top this year, and I'm quite satisfied that it happened that way. It will be a highly anticipated season next season when Bynum goes back up and running. I need to see an improved Gasol performance compared to this finals series too. And more Ariza minutes, somebody please.
Still, if you count Bynum and Gasol's presence there, it may count as facelift, but if compared to the other fence's MAJOR OVERHAUL with players from all over the league, three(?) of which donned a Heat jersey at least once in their careers, you might still say Lakers has essentially remained Lakers, and the victorious Celtics of this season is almost entirely different from the years-long frustrated Celtics of the previous years.
I even had moments where I wondered how none of the Celts were talked about to be such asses not cooperating with new team members, considering they mostly joined together for the first time last season. But I digress.
I see Lakers at least making it to the finals again this coming year. Bold prediction right there. Then Celtics breezing their way to another finals vs Lakers. Now, that is truly reviving the rivalry for you.

Uh, having the Lakers make it to the finals again isn't really a bold prediction. Now that they'll be playing together as a unit for one year, and they've been together in hotly contested games, they're a shoo-in for the finals next year.
The Celtics may be a little less hungry, and it might be ahrder for them to get back there, but I'm predicting a Lakers Celtics rematch next year.
I wouldn't count out the Hornets or the Magic upsetting them though.

On Hornets: Did you see David West's new record on that one game? He was phenomenal. I don't have a sound basis to say that they'll get revenge against Spurs next year, Spurs is really as great a team as they've always been, their intermittent stroke of yearly luck notwithstanding. But I want to see Hornets rise up to the challenge now that I've seen them, a relatively young team, come face-to-face with a team as old and as made as Spurs, and noticed how far they'd come fighting and rolling with Spurs' punches. Against Lakers is an entirely different story, but hey, I'm optimistic of underdogs finally breaking out and making it big.
Spurs-Lakers matchup last season is reason enough to say that Lakers' presence come next finals is still a relatively bold prediction. You can't expect Pop and his team to just succumb to the notion that it's the end of the road for Spurs' championship races. Expect them to rise up and exact revenge. If you've seen Spurs do that exact same thing over the years, you'll agree.
