What do we actually know about the proposed change in the constitution?
Let us use the example given - nuclear power
science is to be used with instrumentation, controls, human machine interface , alarms and trips and when you ignore these, the hazards happen, it is very safe as long as there is preventive and protective maintenance!
is a refinery safe?
is an atomic research centre safe?
is our pollution to rivers and air safe ?
is an industry using gases safe?
is the rice and wheat with mixed impurities safe, what you are eating?
are the medicines safe , what you take?
is the water safe, what you consume?
is the fertiliser fed crops safe?
is the social system safe for poor and deprived?
what is the source of power generation of America, France, Germany and Switzerland? how many accidents happened there?
yet you have evidence of such FEW misdeeds with nuclear energy, and you want it banned?
By the same logic, cars should be banned, because MILLIONS of people have been killed in them.
Shoelaces should be outlawed, because someone was once strangled by one.
Toothbrushes too, I heard a prisioner once sharpened one and stabbed another prisoner!
A dog died once because he choked on a cute little plush toy.
Its just sad when we think nuclear power is that dangerous today. The Chernobyl accident was the result of a DELIBERATE disabiling of key safety systems. And ANY technology can be used to kill one, or thousands of people.
Compared to our neighboring countries who have long since adapted, how are we faring?
I have no love for GMA, but maybe we need to stop and think, provided that we set the approriate controls in place, would this really be a bad idea?
People who spread ignorance and paranoia without full understanding of the issues make this country even worse.
